Will he or won't he?

He won't. At least not where I live. It is a gray and overcast day and any groundhog poking his head out this morning would not have been startled by his shadow.

It's all academic anyway because it seems like spring has already begun here, with daily temperatures in the 70s and 80s and new growth popping up everywhere. Of course, the possibility of another frost still exists for the next few weeks, but it really feels like spring has sprung.

Carolina jessamine, ready to burst into bloom any day now.

  1. It seems it predicted an early spring, which is very much appreciated if it comes true in this part.

    1. It looks like an early spring at least in these parts - but then it is a rare year when that is not the case.

  2. If he had the misfortune to live here he'd be digging his burrow deeper. It's blowing a hoolie and pouring with rain in England.

    1. Well, stay dry, rd, and comfort yourself that spring really is just around the corner - even in England!

  3. I saw Carolina jessamine blooming last week in Charlottesville, VA. Spring is definitely on its way. Too bad it won't get to upstate New York for several more months. As for the groundhog, he didn't see his shadow in Binghamton today, either.

    1. The jessamine has been blooming sparsely for most of a month now, but in another week to ten days it will be in full glorious bloom and the scent in the backyard will be wonderful.

  4. Cloudy here this morning. But in light of our drought I wouldn't mind if it kept raining the rest of the month. It will only make everything more beautiful when it does warm up.

    1. Rain is good. February showers bring March flowers - or something like that.
