My own daughter (also named Sarah!) has a tattoo that is meaningful for her. I always followed the same procedure with each: I decided on a design, then put it away for six months or so. If I still wanted it, the meaning was still important to me, then I got it. If not, it was tossed in the garbage.Sarah @ All The Book Blog Names Are Takenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12507006809241347635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3560838335414244511.post-87249559512268094982020-06-28T12:01:18.396-05:002020-06-28T12:01:18.396-05:00Tattoos do have their uses.Tattoos do have their uses.Dorothy Bordershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12441731296027227394noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3560838335414244511.post-18179521456375238202020-06-28T10:41:04.280-05:002020-06-28T10:41:04.280-05:00He writes very down-to-earth poetry which leads me...He writes very down-to-earth poetry which leads me to think you may be right; he may be a very down-to-earth person.Dorothy Bordershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12441731296027227394noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3560838335414244511.post-13420657904052174492020-06-28T10:39:41.209-05:002020-06-28T10:39:41.209-05:00Yes, I am in the generation when only sailors and ...Yes, I am in the generation when only sailors and tough guys got tattoos. Good thing, because I am not fond of being stuck with needles. I got acupuncture for a while and even that was iffy. I like looking at tattoos on people though, especially the ones that cover a whole arm or some other body part. When a tattoo artist is a character in a book, I am usually drawn to that character.Judy Kruegerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11632346091869688862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3560838335414244511.post-34609545876350453512020-06-28T10:39:31.031-05:002020-06-28T10:39:31.031-05:00I can see how tattoos might become a hinge on whic...I can see how tattoos might become a hinge on which to hang discrimination. Why? I wondered how a former insurance executive can end up becoming a poet laureate, and because he gives me the feeling that if I showed up at his house, he would show me his garden and then invite me in for some delicious refreshments. Anyway, the line "his heart gone soft and blue with stories" is what got me about this poem.Alanahttp://ramblinwitham.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3560838335414244511.post-80715052075047084102020-06-28T05:18:12.578-05:002020-06-28T05:18:12.578-05:00I have to confess that I am a tad revolted by tatt...I have to confess that I am a tad revolted by tattoos. As you say, it may be a generational thing, but why people would want to deface their bodies in this manner is quite beyond me, especially the ones who seem not to be content until almost every inch of skin is covered. If I were to make an honest confession, about discrimination I suppose, if I were still hiring people, the tattooed person would go to the bottom of my list instantly, my conclusion being that he or she was brain dead already!David M.
